The Ramones was the best small venue
U2 or Peter Gabriel for large venue

What bands have you seen in concert and what venue did you love the most?

Some of my favorite shows were George Throrogood just when it was him and the Deleware Destroyers, a bass player and a drummer.
They showed up in a station wagon crammed with gear and played clubs in DC my favorite show of his of all time was at the Cellar Door.

I've seen so many shows it's hard to rank them.
Count Basie was awesome even tho he couldn't walk anymore, Ray Charles was magical, Chicago's 40th Anniversary show with the Chicago skyline behind them was amazing, Dirty Dozen Brass Band always knock it out of the park, Santana, Tower of Power, Steely Dan at Summerfest was sublime, Stevie Wonder, Dr. John, I've seen the Allman Brothers Band at least a dozen times... Stevie Ray Vaughn's last show...
But one that really sticks out is George Clinton and the P-Funk All Stars at the Rave in Milwaukee. Star Child and Dr. Funkenstein were there.

Big Mouth and the Power Tools Horns I've seen maybe 200 times over the last 20-some years. I see them as often as I can.

Compton Terrace was my favorite out-door spot.. even though it wasn't all that huge it never got crowded

Too many for me to list (right now). My favorite venues are outdoor amphitheaters. DTE Energy in Michigan and Molson in Toronto come to mind. They sound excellent.
