They only got in my way.
The only thing I thought they were good for was carrying my crap around.
This... and once you have a house they're pointless for that even.
Although... if you can find one with good gear early on you can go get them killed and loot their good stuff.

I solo'd a lot in Skyrim. However, on dungeons with a lot of magic guys, I usually bring along the Aela the Huntress girl.

My dude is level 81, with a set of enchanted daedric armor that has a rating of like 1120, enchanted with 100% MP reduction on destruction and restoration spells. Every one of those 80 levelups went into health because you can heal stamina and no spells cost anything. I started giving all my potions and items away because I have no use for money. (190K with all the houses bought and furnished)
Here is the best part: I haven't done even the first quest yet. I have obviously talked to people to buy things, but never actually did a quest. Now I am going to march through all of them

you must have done some quests to unlock some of those buildings at least. You mean the main quest?

Derp. Yeah I did the one for the house that also gets you dragon encounters. lol. i kinda feel like the game is in tutorial mode until you actually fight dragons. I havent bought the other houses yet. I just did on my other character so I know the prices n stuff. My goal is to beat everything with my claws as a khajit. the heavy armor perk that gives your armor bonus to your unarmed damage as well as the multiplier for being khajit and a few random items to beef up the damage. I will run through the game kitty-scratching everything to death
