Remember, you don't have anything hot in there so only adding brown sugar will probably make it too sweet.

sugar burns I wouldn't rub a brisket with that. here's my rub:
Chili powder (I grind my own: dry chipoltle, adobe, thai reds, and pablano)cup
salt 2-tblspoon
pepper tsp
garlic 2-tblspoon
dry mustard tblspoon
cumin tsp
