I have a 40 dollar pair of john deere boots that have lasted me 2 years with no signs of wearing in the slightest. I wear them almost everyday

your work does have a major impact on the life of your boot

You're not paying $170 so the boot will last twice as long as an $85 boot. The extra money is for a more comfortable boot...

My husband's $280 Red Wings last about 2 years. Worth every penny. He's a diesel mechanic.

If you're in a trade that requires work boots then you should have three pair. Rotate them daily, clean and apply Mink oil as needed. They will last considerably longer. I also recommend Dr Martens.

My $200 Red Wing boots have lasted me a bit over a year and now they need a new sole. I wore them 5-6 days a week for a year and was walking/standing for 8 hours a day in them. The boots will last me for a few more years as the leather is now broken in and not really getting destroyed. I'd like to get a pair of those rejected Bates USMC boots though and run the sole out on them.

Doc Martens are terrible.
I do high-rise concrete construction. A $200 pair of boots will last me about a year. Wet concrete is terrible for the leather.
