If you mean within VN, yes. Your profile is global. If you mean from VN to IGN then no. An IGN mod cannot see your VN notes and same goes for the other way.

Towards the end we were going to make the board a Manager Board only + foxy but Dune's return gave us the opportunity to plug in someone we knew was level headed, laid back and posted here often so we went with that.
Mith can elaborate more but we always tried to pull from the community.

I was modded in 2005 so I'm not going to talk about things prior that I can only assume.
BUT
When I was first moderated, there had to be 100 mods. Back then, there was a definite feel of hierarchy between Administration, Managers and mods. It seemed to be ran like a true business with corporate structure because of the sheer number of mods. The app, in my opinion, caused a polarization type effect. Those who were not serious would either stop because of the length of the app or would be flushed because their answers were so transparent.
To me, it gave leadership a means to filter people out because one can stay in touch with a small community and make decisions to mod someone based on a personal bias whereas the boards grew so much, that was no longer possible and there had to be a 'test' for those considering the position.

That's it really. Nothing else. If mods got cute with entries, they were told to remake the note without the color commentary and myself or another manager would nuke it.

i think the thing that got under my collar the most about the moderation back way back then was the mods who who would just be browsing ACF and were not all that 'hip' to the ACF culture and perform a drive-by edit/lock/ban with nary a warning or FYI, the only way you found out WTF happened was via MSN or YIM if you had a mod friend who could look it up and tell ya -OR- via the UBR when said stealth mod would get around to unbanning ya
