You'll need to downgrade to 1.2 for now. Links above to help with that.
Once things are stable Steel will get the server to 1.3.
Think I might just stick with SP right now. Watching the tutorial videos atm. So far the game is fun!
Found some Iron Ore and have no idea what to do with it or how to use it yet

Build a furnace. Then coal/wood/charcoal as fuel, iron ore in the top spot. Iron ore smelts into iron bars which are quite useful.

Haha Camilla, I have a ton of info up here: http://minecraft.ign.com/wiki/Minecraft_Wiki with a quick point form beginners guide included, plus a recipe widget to the side of the site and also here: http://minecraft.ign.com/crafting-recipes . I suggest bookmarking http://www.minecraftwiki.net/ as it is a fairly reliable resource, often when I get stumped on a new feature that I am covering I do turn around and go see what they have managed to dig up on it.
I'm also sticking with sp at the moment as I need to cover the current version of the game, but once Steel gets the server to 1.3 I do suggest playing on it as it ramps up the fun 100% and we have a fantastic community. Also note they have been so kind as to disable firespread after a "wee" incident that destroyed my continent and unfortunately the ladies Tree-Castle that was being built not to far from my place (I hide faaaaar away from everyone as I am a clutzy player). Aside from my stupid accidental destruction, I don't think we have had any griefing occur

Yeah I plan on joining the server once I get a little better. I'll check out the links when I get home from work.

Try that to downgrade. I don't know why the guy who first put them up took them down. Maybe Notch didn't like and asked him to. In any event, a lot of us had already grabbed the files and Steel was nice enough to host them.
