Ok so question time ... last night my sky grinder would just rain mobs left and right. Tonight, just like previous times... only like 1-2 mobs spawn inside.

I tried leaving the chunk, going into the nether and back and it still won't spawn mobs correctly.

Any ideas?


So it seems it only works when nobody is online...

Spawn rates are server wide. If 3 people are in three totally different areas then the spawn is only going to be (roughly) 1/3rd for each of them. The same is true for mob caps and whatnot.

it should still spawn mobs, but it spawns like 1 every 5 - 10 minutes...

Its what steel said, global spawn numbers.

Thats why I was saying I didn't think building one would be worth it. That said, it should still be spawning more than every 5-10 mins heh. (depending on how big it is)

this is the reason we should only have one mob grinder at the spawn. and remove it when we got a grinder up at the end. shared lighting space means better spawns for all on the grinder.

eh...

Theres a lot more open world lit up than one grinder

This is why most people farm spawners, not affected by global pop.

spawners are too inefficient.
