Well... no, but a skeleton killing a creeper guarantees a record drop. If i get close to the opening when its full of mobs the skellys shoot at me and hit the creepers

Ah yeah that happens a lot out in the open areas around my construction but I am usually picking them off anyway so don't wait for them to kill each other.
