So a restart? Maybe with some creative transfers?

We could also do regens of the undeveloped terrain using Worldedit. Goinf to end up with some edges, but we'd get that with a cut and paste too. With the same seed, we could plop Lyndrek's castle in easily. A couple big cut and pasts is not too bad, but if 15 players want one that's quickly a big pain in the ass. (I can do it, and don't mind. I just don't want the plan to require Steel to have to do a lot of fiddly un-fun work with his limited free time for fun.)

I know my area would paste in smoothly as well, the ocean border seems to be the same all over so anyone on a coastline would sill be on a coastline.

Personally I'd be fine with a full clean restart, and I'd also be fine if some things like Lyndrek's massive project were saved and pasted. I also don't mind triggering some regens on demand, that would take some of the load off you.

I assuming the nether gen hasn't changed and if we keep that, the HTH and my latest stuff would be saved. I almost prefer a clean start though, and just save a couple things for people that wish. Lyndrek's area for sure, and the pyramid if Mr. McDigger is attached to it as examples.

I've already got a full established second base now, I *like* starting over. I'm cool with whatever though, including the plan where I have to swap between worlds and cut and paste things in MCedit for everyone.

We have no ETA on an official 1.2 release, and 1.1 took quite a while, and then we have the wait for Bukkit. I'm pretty sure we have plenty of time to explore the options.

Edit: Another option is to provide a chest for each person in a single spot and paste that in at spawn on a new world. That way you could keep your diamonds or super enchanted picks etc. Or just keep player inventory.

I wouldn't care about saving any of mine. Maybe the great hole I am digging just cause I want to see it done. Everything else I am just as happy starting over... that's most of the fun for me.

As for bringing things over I wouldn't want to bring everything but if people had certain projects they wanted I would be fine with that.

As always, no matter to me. I hadn't started my project yet and none of my current buildings are so important that they would need copied

im fine with restart.

edit im ok with creative imports IF and only if the schematic is void of secret chests full of goodies or blocks hidden inside. if this cannot be checked we should not import stuff. also importee should cough up equal amount of legitimate materials for the schematic to be deleted upon importation.

i suggest to limit the natural spawn grinders to one public use grinder set at spawn. this is to help with the "no mobs" issue. also i suggest players live much closer together so that lit space underneath the surface is shared and easier to control.... this does not mean you cannot have an outpost for mining diamonds, xp and such but lighting the area up will be your responsibility to keep server mob spawns from hitting cap.
