Two more of them right around the one I setup. They are all over the ruins/structures in the nether.
Disappointed in the spawn rate specially after as many spawned and killed me while I was building it, lol.

Might be that you have to give them specific conditions that aren't being met?
That is nice that they're around... Anyone have a good way to locate a Fortress in the Nether?

Nah I had to restrict them to make the grinder work. It isn't that they are unbearably slow, just slower than I expected. As for finding them... I found going high and moving along the ceilings of the big caverns worked well since you could see pretty far and the structures stood out.

well guys i think i found the best spot on the server to setup a cavespider xp grinder.
i have just found a spot with 4 cave spawners close together, close enough to make xp grinder with all of them.
trying to clear it out now... got about 100 spiders after me, don't think ill last long lol.

BTW for you guys building traps, Fences on 3 of the 4 blocks work wonders to corral critters into a place where you can wack at them. Also, recently found a Blaze Spawn Trap which uses pistons to suffocate the mobs... but it pulls back before death so you can get the final blow; might work wonders for killing all of those spiders =)

I've got a spider trap that does the same and uses water to push them up to the pistons then glass to block them so you can hit them but they can't hit you.
My blaze trap is similar but mostly manual and you kill them with one snowball after you crush them.
