I got 8 uses out of it before it showed anything.
Getting 2, 3 or 4 diamonds from one block (reasonably often) is sweet.

It would be worth swapping it out to conserve usage for that reason alone. If you only used it on iron, gold or diamond blocks you would be stylin'.

It makes no diff on iron or gold. Only diamond, lapis and coal. It seems to make you get 5 redstone dust more often and 4 glowstone dust more often. For glowstone I've been using the ST pick to just get the glowstone block.
Definitely swapping them out.
47 levels on a diamond helmet got me protection 4. Another robbery.

I spent the evening polishing it up to make it and the new tree farm look pretty, and I already have a rail link to it from my place.
There's always more to do but now at least I can chop trees and cook cobble while I grind.

That's to say, "sure come on by." It's pretty easy to duplicate and a good use for an otherwise useless zombie spawner. My design is no good for skeles (they'll shoot your face nonstop) or spiders of any kind.
There are some great cave spider designs on youtube or in Steel's basement and those are the easiest spawner to find. Hard not to find them really.  (Ethoslab and docm77 on youtube both have some pretty nice ones if you're looking for vids for cave spider spawners)

Yeah mine is open for anyone to use. Just take the tower down until you hear spiders, lol.
When you are waiting between spawns wait in the stairs though... sometimes one glitches out and he'll eat your face if you are afk in there. Hit the button and they will all be damaged to near death then one shot them through the gap in the glass and open the gate to get the xp orbs out. The loot will drop on the level below if you want that too.

Optifine for 1.0.0 is out.
Performance boost for slower computers but it has options that improve the graphics. Also HD texture pack built in and it does fonts better.
