Bought it. Screwing around on single player for a quick study break. Built a crappy little shack made of sandstone. Seems like it could be a fun game. I'll probably pop onto the ACF server tomorrow night...

Alright, after building a dirt hovel, beating a tree down with my hands, and making a door: I'm won over. Game will easilly deliver $20 in entertainment...

I'm not a master of Linux or anything but what kind of moron turns off swap? I'm running Ubuntu and watching swap usage. The system only uses it when the ram is overloaded. Ok. Let's turn off the only backup we have for that. Right.

So how does the multiplayer server work? I dropped in for a minute to run around and see if I can actually connect. Looked cool. Can I just find an empty plot of land and build myself a little shack?

Pretty much yes. Just don't build near someone else without asking them first. Otherwise, the world is yours to explore.

You can clear out a piece of land and set up torches on the grass which attract animals to your area.
I'm by the skywalk so I filled in water with dirt to create my own area with a view and to farm my own crap.
