Don't worry the overhaul the terrain generator got you will have no trouble finding a cool area. Well unless you are looking for snow, lol.

I was going west and saw this awesome mountain with a waterfall and thought to myself "now this is the area for me!"

Actually, on my way to my location at -2900x or so, I found an even bigger cliff with a huge waterfall. Just not enough flat land by for my taste The waterfalls here are dinky.
Are you sure you didn't find that other one?

maybe I just saw some buildings built near it that didn't look like the random ones the server builds and I also saw torches everywhere.
I found an area with tons of mountains (I love mountains) and lakes and waterfalls and it's Huge. I started torching out the coastline so people will know it's claimed, then I came across a plains and I'm like wtf! it's bigger than I thought!
Steele! get a map up please! I want to see just how big it is! hahaha! 
not going to empty out the area like I did with the last landmass it's not worth the trouble
besides I found a natural cove I'm going to make into something and soo many caves and stuff it's going to be fun.
except the monsters are crazy! they spawn 5 skeletons at a time I swear!

Here's some more pictures from my area..
First the river of lava and water I found about 300 away from my house (and about 50 squares down)
Then when I dug out I came out in a creeper infested forest. 4 within sight, after schoo thankfully turned it to day. Here's pics from the mountain treck finding my way home.
