Yeah WorldGuard is in the same boat. It is almost there but not quite. Keeping an eye on them though for progress, should be soon.

Bad news and good news... Bad news is Notch is the only one working on Minecraft at the moment... GOOD NEWS IT WON'T BE UPDATED FOR WEEKS SO 1.5 IS HERE TO STAY FOR WHO KNOWS HOW LONG!

I still very much want modding to be a part of Minecraft, but I’m not convinced spending months writing an API that won’t satisfy people is the correct way to do so. There probably are better ways to do it.
The main problems we need to solve are preventing people from making money off our work (unless they have a license deal with us), and making sure mods don’t break with each game update.

That about sums it up. Claiming an API isn't needed because the modders are doing well enough on their own is just stupid. They have to fight with obfuscated code every release and broken/changed classes forcing moders to update their mods every time he pushes out an update. With an API he wouldn't have to worry about modders getting all up into his code and stuff would continue to work after updates.

That was my take on it as well.

I just put my local server to Bukkit 720 with updated Essentials, worldguard, and worldedit. No error messages and on a few quick tests everything seems stable.
(Stargate, Dropbonus, and permissions didn't change.)

Server info is the same.
Steel has to manually upgrade to the new version (and upgrade a few plugins too.)
