I don't know what you guys are expecting from this...

....but these canned dungeon bosses are completely unsatisfactory. I want to see Ragnaros appear in Orgrimmar, and start destroying buildings and slaughtering noobs. I am going to be a sad panda if we don't see some serious world boss action with this pre-expansion event. I mean c'mon, we're talking about the unsettling of the main elemental planes, some nasty stuff has gotta get loose soon!

Part of the problem with things like that is that the servers tend to go boom and the entire game world converges on a single location. Plus, weird things happen with the models and such causing issues.
How do I know? Somebody asked a dev about this a few years ago and that is what they said.
Don't get me wrong, if I worked at Blizzard, you would get exactly what you just said, with huge bosses going through the cities killing everybody and dropping amazing phat lewt if killed.

Not happening. This tuesday or next, The Shattering happens and that's the end of it. Well, and Deathwing flies around torching zones.

It would be interesting to have a chance for some ultr-deadly boss mob to spawn anywhere. Like maybe a giant squirrel named Chippers spawns and eats several players and buries some in holes in the ground or in trees where they have to find their way out.

Yeah I did feel as though the instanced boss invasion was weak and non-immersive. I liked the free upgrades though.
