Personally I was disappointed with this beta. Maybe I just had bad luck but EVERY time I logged in to play and test and give feedback it was a struggle just to stay connected to the server. I've participated in BC and WotLK betas and neither were as unstable for me as this one.
I am surprised they're ending it now. They let WotLK beta run right up to release day.

because somebody needs to say it....
Beta has not ended, it will continue for at least the next 6 months, with probably a lot of the same frustration on reporting problems. There will be new bugs introduced that will sit here for the next four years (I can verify at least 2 that were still in the game today that I reported during beta of Vanilla - that were acknowledged as such.) Letting it run 2 more weeks would have been good, and you know (imo) even that would not have been enough.
/experienced dev perspective off
Rill, thanks for your input and your hard work and everyone else that came out and tested. Our guild normally likes to thrash games because 3 of us understand the process professionally. We just didn't have the time to devote in the way that would have left us feeling ok looking in the mirror in the morning. We know it's hard work and a commitment for players who genuinely care about the state of the game. Thank you.
Whatever happens now, is in Blizz's hands. As it should be. They own it. One way or another.
Good luck to all of us

Blizzard has decided on the "pay to beta" model, as we will be beta testing the B-team's product for the next year.

I'm pretty dissapointed with the lack of warning they gave on ending this, on the lack of any fun end of beta experience/event, and the fact they couldn't wait until TOMORROW to pull the plug so I had something to play this morning while live has the maintenance going.

This is an insightful and heretofore undelved aspect of modern MMOs.

This was the first time I didn't get an invite as well. I managed to get into all the others.
