I've never found the WoW community all that social to begin with. I'm in a great guild and am social with them, as far as pugs were concerned though I rarely met anyone I pugged with a second time. At least this way the tedium of putting together a PuG is gone, not to mention waiting for everyone to actually get to the dungeon.

Love it. I do the same amount of genuinely social stuff with my actual friends and acquaintances, but I do a bunch of "not particularly social" grouping with the dungeon finder in place of time I would previously have spent doing solo stuff.

I'm the Dude. So that's what you call me. You know, that or, uh, His Dudeness, or uh, Duder, or El Duderino if you're not into the whole brevity thing.

Great addition for leveling and getting loot.

Bad addition in terms of socializing.

Some of the crap that people have attempted to talk about in my dungeon finder groups make me not want to talk in group.

r? I freaking hate that. Most of the time no one replies so the tank just makes a judgement call (like he should have in the first place) and pulls anyways.

I dont find that the case most of the time. Every now and then you get a group that's on robot mode late at night. But most of the time all the groups I get in talk .

But again how is it any different than soloing 1 to 80?

I like the ease to find a dungeon but it takes all the social aspects out. Everything from finding a group of "friends" to chatting pretty much at all during the actual run is nil. I still very much prefer guild runs, but those are people I know, not new people.

When I was first starting out in WoW and Z Guild was still pretty small in this game, we were always grouping and making alliances with other players. Can't say we do that anymore...

I like it. Queues are fairly quick, and it allows me to get groups easily. If I am looking for something more social, I will find a good guild.

Agreed

It's a win / lose from my perspective.

Between LFD and battlegroups and teleporting everywhere, my server has no personality anymore. The only personality the server can really have is determined by the trade channel, which is a disaster.

So I miss the old days when you knew your opponents in PvP, and you had a friends list of people who weren't really your friend-friends, but you knew they were reliable to group with and so there was at least some synergy there (and you never knew if it they could turn into real friends).

But I don't miss waiting 20 minutes to hours to get into battlegrounds. I don't miss taking 30 minutes to get a group together and then riding / flying out to the location to do the dungeon.

There are no easy solutions that I can see, either. I guess I prefer the new system, but only by a little bit. It feels like I've got more quantity of game now, but less quality. I'd be VERY interested to see data on how long people are sticking around now, too, since there aren't as many social bonds / webs being formed.

I love it when you find that one group you repeat queue with for about two hours and have a blast.
