Why would you be angry at someone offering a service and then charging for it?

What about the Dalaran cooking and fishing dailies? Or are the new ones in the other capital cities going to render those useless?
Same thing that happened to the Shattrath cooking and fishing dailies.

I don't think I would pay 10g or 20g for a port. That is a little steep IMO. So far I have not encountered any greedy mages. I've not asked for a lot of portals, but the mage simply asked for a tip. I tipped 5g.
I don't have a ton of gold right now though, my combined gold on my characters is under 6k. I just started back up. If the mage was willing to port himself from another city and come to me I wouldn't mind tipping 10g.
People that do this as a service do not anger me, but they do puzzle me. There has to be quicker ways to farm gold.

It isn't about farming gold..
Its about taking money that is freely handed out.
"ISO mage port from dal to org, paying 10g"..
this 10g is going to someone, so that someone may as well be me.
Add to that, the people that just walk up and ask for a port. Now, If i am in the RDF, and let someone into my group, i am going to have to requeue once you are portaled.
That COSTS 10g for my inconvenience, in advance, before I let you in the group.
Don't like it? Take the boat, and waste 10 minutes of your time, instead of 10 minutes of mine having to requeue.

I've been on both sides w/ this. I log on my Mage and offer free ports anywhere. I only do that because I was pissed that Mages were charging 10g-20g a pop for ports.
Then I turn around and log other players of mine that need a port and offer 10g for the port.
Is this going to be a standard now? Are Mages just going to be used for the port ability? I don't mind getting tipped on my Mage for a port, but I can't stand those that are setting up shop in Dal for business.
Doesn't bother me at all. This is how "Classic" was.
I don't see what the issue is. Either pay or don't, done.

I survived to the end and got nothing out of it, but hey.

Lol yeah I get the logic behind offering a port if you catch it in trade chat, what I don't get are the people who set up shop and just sit there all day spamming, "Selling ports!" There has to be a faster way to make money then that.
I'm not against people charging for gold, I don't think my post suggested that, but you sound a little bit defensive. Easy there, we get, pay for a port or take the boat, lol.

Not defensive..
Just most people that don't have mages don't realize it costs the mage time if they are running randoms.

Faster? Yeah, Easier, and lazier? Probably not. I've made a few hundred gold past few days just sitting in Dalaran.

I'm not sure why people who need to get to Kalimdor forget about the port to the Caverns of Time in Dalaran. It saves me a lot of time.
