(Disclaimer: I have read almost nothing about the spells and such of the various classes in Cataclysm ... that is ... past 80)
I have been dinking along with DK, paladin, and hunter and also trying out the new starter zones.
My hunter dinged 82, and for this he gets the marvelous ability to call another pet from the stables. Uh ... what?
I mean, seriously, there are only five levels here guys. And, looking ahead I don't see anything particularly remarkable coming up. Are there any classes that get spells or abilities that make you say, "WOOT! I got something when I dinged!" I mean, I got 80s of all but rogue and warrior ... and I am just sort of wondering which classes really "improve" as they move from 80-85. I mean, besides the basic, yeah I got some green armor that was better than this epic or that.
Lets see ... the hunter is going to get Aspect of Fox, which looks like it could be useful and Camouflage which looks uh ... well.
Camo and Fox are essentially PvP abilities.
Camo: It's next to useless in PVE, as it can't be used in combat. So it doesn't even work with the portion of not getting targetted by range as a defensive mechanism. It does work fairly well in PVP though. It would be perfect if it worked in combat as a vanish of sorts.
Fox: It has its uses in certain PvE situations that you need to move in and fire off shots during boss fights, if you don't have focus to spare. It servers no purpose on trash mobs.
It works decently in PVP if you need to shoot someone running away, it will help you keep Serpent on if you use Cobra on the chase to finish someone off.
It's not useful for the part of it about someone beating on you in melee and gaining focus for it. We don't have any focus skills to use in melee range that benefit from the focus gain on it, that natural regen won't cover in the timeframe. Chances are you're dead when someone gets in melee range anyway, as that is the only thing any PvP minded person will do against a hunter.
