My new "main" is a goblin warrior - prot spec. I am trying to level him only in instances & so far it is working out. I like the instant join times for tanks & most of the time the other 4 people are happy to see me & put up with my noobness while I learn how to tank.

As far as newness goes, I got that feeling with the goblin starting area, but I dont think there will ever be a new feeling with a 7 year old game. You just try to enjoy the new stuff they put out.

I've only completed one zone so far in the new lands, and have been leveling various alts partly to get them higher, and partly to see what they did to the quests in the old lands.

The pros I'll mention is that the quests are a little more streamlined now. The vast majority of them in the old lands (and even the new zones I've seen) don't require you to run back and forth from one end of the zone to the next, and leveling is much, much faster now (esp. if you have rested bonus). Some of them are really interesting homages (there's one quest that sort of parodies the beginning of Empire Strikes Back in Winterspring where you touch an item, black out, then you're stuck on an ice ceiling that you have to break out of), and some are downright ROFLMAO hilarious, such as the quests by the charred area in badlands. I highly suggest people who haven't done that quest line yet do it, because you get punch Deathwing in the face! At least according to one of the NPC's that tries to explain what happened.

The cons I've seen so far is that the starting area in the high level areas is a bit difficult if you don't have semi-decent gear, so it's going to hurt unless you buy some cataclysm green gear from the AH, or are doing the area with another player. Stats start to jump up a ton too, I've seen people with 100k+ hp (but when you can hit for about 10-20k, it still balances out, but wow you're an elite boss already lol). There's also a lot of competition with mining/herbing in those areas, but that's to be expected since it's the new stuff and everyone wants to make their share of money.

About to hit 85 on my DK and I can say that I was quite surprised how quickly the "new" wore off.

Not sure that I will level up the alts.

Blizzard failed to deliver on this one, unless they have some really really great stuff coming shortly in the patches ahead.

This is the main reason I restarted a new character and do every quest in every zone.

We all know the endgame is grinding for loot, reputation, or honor. So, why rush to get there?

As far as "new feeling" was there ever one?

Yes. Hell yes.

Otherwise, many of us who returned would've quit before we reached level ten.

Will it continue at the end?

Don't know, but we'll see.

I still have plenty of new left. I only played thru the worgen start this last weekend and have yet to do the goblin one. And I've barely touched Kalimdor since the cataclysm. Then again I started WoTLK about 8 months after it released and I'm still not quite finished with even those zones.

They could fix this with a world level PVP ala Dark Age. It doesn't have to be anything like Dark Age except in the idea of a large scale place to battle, something to do between raiding or instead of. A separate land mass/continent would be fine. A place with cities to take and control etc for some benefit or another.

Dark Age had its issue but its general concept of world pvp separate from pve is still second to none so far.

Arena and BGs just don't cut it.

When is the next expansion pack?

I am already bored of Cataclysm and even my guild went from 20 a night last week back down to 4 or 5 this week.Â

Ok, that is half joking but joke aside, Cataclysm is a kick ass expansion pack with a lot of new content and such.  However, WoW is showing its age and at the end of the day, we just got a lot of old stuff with a new coat of paint. The underlying game is still the same as it was all the way back to WoW Classic. This doesn't mean we didn't get some amazing new quests with fun concepts or some very good things, but the end game is essentially unchanged and that is where the meat and potatoes lie for most of us. Yes, it IS fun to go collect all the cool new things, but it is just MORE OF THE SAME.Â

Now obviously, Blizzard is somewhat boxed in, because a lot of people just want new raids/heroics to run (I do as well, to a point) and obviously if the formula changes too much, many content players may move away.Â

Still, I was really hoping that Blizzard would have added a new gameplay dynamic to Cataclysm. Something that goes beyond PVP or PVE grinds and brings in a new alternative gameplay style that would help rejuvinate the game itself for many of us that are really getting tired of the old stuff. What this should be, I don't know but I am not payed to dream up new dynamics, they are.

The even sadder aspect here is that every MMO I have tried since WoW was released  (Aion, Age of Conan, WARhammer, etc, etc) doesn't stray much past the formula either, and the end result is that after 1 or 2 months in those other games, they quickly become tiring and I am not even going to mention the "other" issues those games have.Â

Maybe its just me . I've been playing MMO's since Ultima Online was released back in the 1990's, so maybe I just need a few year break from the genre to forget about it and come back fresh. Who knows.Â

Blizzard, I love you guys. Please try and add some new gameplay style to WoW. You guys are smart, intelligent people, I am sure you can dream up something and add it into a future expansion or patch.

2 main problems for me:

1 - many of the old zones seem the same as before. maybe in a corner of the map there a new grassy area or something, but the majority of the zone is the same. they just don't feel different enough...with a few exceptions like thousand needles.

2 - the way the grinds are set up. can't they think of anything different than always having a shoulder enchant grind, head enchant grind, bg honor grind, dungeon finder grind. that is why it feels just like wotlk. its all setup exactly the same.

i know the main selling point is the 1-60 game and i do plan on rolling my worgen druid still to try that. however i would have liked at least some interesting stuff to do at 85. on a side note i think the shadowfang and deadmines heroic versions suck. i do not want to do the same dungeon from 5 years ago.

archaeology is extremely boring as well. run around clicking a button and following an arrow. feels like a rat in a maze. almost as bad as fishing.
