Now I know that race doesn't really matter, but I was just having another alt-aholic momment and went to create a Mage. I am currently alliance side, I was going to go Worgan of course because they are the new deal. Seems like they are almost the worst race for a Mage. I am not even sure they can be mages.

And what is with having both forms, human and wolf? Can I actually switch between the two?

I'm looking at the other races and I guess gnome would really be the best option for their escape ability and increased mana pool.

Don't get me started on how cool the goblin racials are...

As far as worgen able to be mages and warlocks, wasn't Gilneas well versed in magic before they built the wall? I'm too lazy to wiki it.

The two forms thing is kinda weird. Yes, you can switch between human and worgen, but as soon as you enter combat you automatically switch back to worgen. Also, when you use the worgen racial "mount" ability, Running Wild, you switch back to worgen form as well. If you plan on doing a skinner though, worgen are the best since they can skin a corpse in .5 seconds, and the extra 1% crit racial is actually pretty handy for any DPS class.

Goblins are kinda cool. They have the coolest racials, thematically speaking, but all in all their are kinda useless. The rocket punch is rather lame. Doesn't do hardly any damage compared to class abilities, and has a very long CD. The rocket jump is also fairly useless. Don't even try and use it going up hill. You'll jump forward about 2 inches. And going downhill you can actually kill yourself with it if you're not careful, as it doesn't prevent fall damage. And the alchemy boost... doesn't really do you much good except at the start of leveling alchemy.

Worgens can transform into human form at level 10. You can walk around, ride mounts, take gryphons, in human form. (Particularly if you don't like running on all fours.)


The minute you start into combat, you are automatically >poofed< (complete with special effects) into a Worgen. Kinda cool.

If you're taking your mage out to PvP, the human racial actually can be important.

I went worgan anyway just to see it. So far its been really cool. I don't know how seriously I'll play this guy so I guess there wasn't too much need in metagaming it that hard.

The 1% crit for a mage will still help, I could see the sprint helping PvP as well. Probably not as well as the human of course, but then again humans just are not that cool.

If Just got to the point in the Worgan stuff where I have turned into a Worgan, pretty cool story and cinematics.

For a Worgen fire mage, the extra crit is fantastic. Im not sure about the other specs though.

I spent $30 to change my level 63 warrior into a Worgen, and I find I can't stand him. The weapons clipping the cloak, the way the cloak comes up short because they're so hunchbacked, the way plate helmets look on them, the constant sniffing (which there is an add-on to remove the sound for you, btw), and the giant feet sticking out of the plate leggings. I'm so not a fan.

I rolled one up to see the starting area before I did the transfer, and to see how I'd like them. Maybe it was the newness of it that I fancied, but now I just know that warrior will collect dust.

Meh, I'm becoming bitter. The more I play the game, the less I like it. Just seems like more of the same.

Wait, I think that's a sign of burnout. I'll take a few days off.

i like worgens because they are "new" and i think look kind of cool in their wolf form. however, yes, their abilities suck. it is disappointing that after so many years and the 2 new races on alliance, human is still the one with all the best racials.

Blizzard is racist, I heard they're taking out the darker half of the skin tones in the next expansion.

The only human characters I've seen with the dark half of the skin tones are spelling out gold selling websites in Trade District. Seriously.
