I tried them all to level 12, and only the paladin made it to 17 so far. Never played one before, and really enjoying it. Also snagged the name Alexandre, so lovin' that.
I did enjoy the dwarf shaman too, but I dunno. I'll give him more attention soon. Thanks for the responses!

I'd say base it on what you plan to do endgame. A pally can heal/DPS/tank, a shaman can melee DPS/ranged DPS/heal, a hunter is good for ranged DPS/CC, and a mage can CC/DPS.
I would recommend making a draenai paladin though. That 1% to hit bonus helps later on, not to mention their free heal over time (if you remember to use it anyway lol). Protection pallies can solo quite well too, and you can often kill multiple regular mobs at a time, as opposed to the other classes, which can also do it, but it's not as easy as the pally. It does take a while before they shine due to lack of spells and crappy gear early on, but they do fairly well later. And if you run instances a lot, tanks don't have to wait as long as DPS (although healers probably find groups the fastest).

Liking the dwarf shammy so far, but really just started to scratch the surface. Only 11... going enhance. Lava Lash is proving very fun.
