my above comment sounded harsher than i meant it to be. It's not directed at any individuals but more at the general tone of the whole thread.
anywho.. it's a moot point. Are there any here on VN who were "the Exalted", who still play the game, who aren't "the Exalted" again?

I'm not into reps or achievements much, so this could never affect me, but it has hosed a couple of my guildies that already had the title and who put in extreme amounts of time to get it during WOTLK.
I can see expanding the requirements for the title due to new factions, but stripping it away from people who previously earned it is utterly stupid and unfair.
I really don't understand what Bliz is trying to accomplish lately - are they intentionally trying to drive away players with idiotic design and decision making?

I'm not affected since I always thought that kind of achievement rep grind was silly and you wouldn't catch me alive doing one, this is a totally retarded and silly decision from Blizzard... or may I say "Bliztard" here. People "worked" (kinda) hard to get their actual title. Removing it is denying them that "work".
They are really extending the "carrot/bait" system a bit too far recently.

I'm actually starting to wonder too...
I'm having some kind of silly theory on that. They are "testing the waters" for their next MMORPG, and how far they can push the grind and more important, the "grind again" factor before people leave.

Dumb design choice, but I agree. The people that waste their time doing reps will continue to waste their time doing reps.

45 is difficult.
46-50 is easy.

Guardians of Hyjal
Therazane
Bilgewater
Hellscream.
those are the next 5 out of 7 to do. Anyone who put the time in to get reps to 45 in the first place... cruised into 50. It's virtually zero work compared to the grind that some of the past reps were. Dailies and/or running heroics at just one a day will have people already done.
edit: the hardcore rep grinders already had 49 50 or even 51 before Cat came out.

I knew that. 
And actually my guildmate had the title. Doesn't now. Won't bother. Not that it was a concern.
Just have to agree with everyone wondering: generically: who's making these design decisions? Because I doubt it's marketing.

I don't mind the change. People who earned the title before Cataclysm will have absolutely no problem re-earning it now. People who didn't earn it before Cataclysm will have roughly the same difficulty earning it now as they would have before. They maintained the spirit of the achievement.
Is it inconsistent with their other policies, though? Absolutely. Why you can still go back and earn WotLK raiding titles and mounts, but you can't get exalted at 45 reps, is totally inconsistent. /shrug

It really isn't that bad. . . though no one likes to have something given to them, and then taken away!
Someone who gets to exalted with wintersaber trainers, hydraxian waterlords or any of those other really long and tedious reps, will have little trouble getting a few cata reps to exalted.
