The answer is YES. Not only can it do this but it WILL do this automatically.

I recently started using a Virtual Private Network. This allows me to get onto the Internet from numerous different cities. When you connect to the Blizzard servers from different IP numbers your account is automatically shut down and you are FORCED to do a password change.

This will also happen to log on outside your normal hours.

This has happened to me personally multiple times.

When you try to protest this behavior you will be directed to Billing who will either not answer or reply with cut-and-paste non-answers and numerous links to completely irrelevant web pages.
When I posted this all on the official wow web site I was banned from their site.

Is it any wonder that so many people are now choosing to send their monthly subscription to Rift?

Huh? How does a VPN allow you to get on the internet in different cities?

Lets say you log in from Portland, Oregon on day one.
An hour later you log in from Portland, Main.
Another hour you log in from Dallis then Calgary.

My VPN provider has nodes in over 50 cities all over the world. I can hop onto the Internet from any of them and grab a new IP address every 6 minuets automatically (if I wish).
Since I have this ability Blizzard has decided that I am a cheater/hacker, crook of some kind and will lock my account(s) the next time I log in. This also happens if I can't sleep and log in a couple hours early in the morning.
Then I MUST turn off my VPN and change my password from my "normal" area.

This is unacceptable. One account expired the beginning of this month and the other will expire the beginning of next month. They will never see any of my money again.
Starting 24 Feb Rift goes live for pre-orders and you can find me sending my money to a company that does not have a Big Brother complex. I don't care what their rationalization is, I simply won't pay them to treat me in this way when I am using what is fast becoming a basic Internet security/privacy tool.

I've shared my info and had other share theirs with me, I've connected from 3 different PC's from my house or even on my school's connection.

Everyone i have shared my info with never lived within a 100 mile distance. (i live in Texas, those who I've used/allow to use mine live in LA, CA, Canada and IL)

They have all logged in kicked me off while playing and have never had problems, no locks, no emails, nothing.

Guess it depends but I've never had an issue.
