Has anyone come up against one??

I was in a BG in Shadow and found myself healing quite effectively... obviously my heals weren't as good, but in respect to the tools I had, they were greatly improved versus healing as Disc/Holy!

- Physcic Horror

- Silence

- Dispersion

- Imp PS

As well as some of the other talent perks good for PVP. I didn't really feel like I was missing anything vital from the healing tree's and had a lot better survivability and decent DPS when I wanted.

I figured that someone must have tried this already and the bonus over pure Heal classes is that you can Mana Burn/Silence/Dispell other healers whilst using Dispersion/Shadowfiend to restore your own mana much more quickly as well as having frontloaded DPS which you can forget about for 15sec.

The only downside I could figre is not being quite as efficient healer and having no damage reducing talent for team mates.

Why use Ambush?
Your foe is in cloth and you want to give them a nice surprise!

This is what is wrong with the healing mechanic in the game right now. Straight healers are pathetic and a DPS specced healer can outperform them if everyone else is good and does their job. In PVP, I can't see a single reason to go Heal spec since you are going to run out of mana fast and then be useless with very little mobility or defense.

Shadow spec though, you have great DPS, tons of tools and almost as good a heals as heal spec just with slightly less healing tools in the toolbox which frankly you wouldn't use anyway cause they cost too much and do too little.

That's my 2 cents. Good luck with it.

You hardly have the mana to do both, not to mention that popping out of shadowform is pretty mana intensive. It it kind of a suck you can still dps without it up though.

I hate to say it but you are wrong Bremen. You may be correct in regards to quick battles but in a prolonged battle that is lasting 5 or 10 minutes due to constant reinforcements there is no replacement for a fully heal specced healer.

So, does this mean they fixed the insta-burst someone down when they are trained by a full group of DPS? Sweet, I assumed it was the same ole stuff with people doing 30-40k damage in a swing and Priests getting burned down in a global cooldown or two spamming their pathetic and extremely costly insta heal gimicks fruitlessly.

Thanks for clarifying Quaz. I was working off old information. Glad to see things have changed so much that healers are useful in PVP again!

If you get enough DPS on you there's nothing that you can do to yourself that is going to save you, barring the 8 seconds of a bubble if you're a paladin. It's the nature of PvP, healers shouldn't be able to survive a bunch of DPS on them at once without some external healing and support.

One single DK is still enough to kill a healing priest all by himself with the priest having zero chance of doing anything to the DK. You also can't get away. Just FYI. Oh and that's with 2500+ resilience.

My resto shaman is running just over 3200 resillience at the moment. Nothing can really kill me in a 1v1 unless it ends up being a 20 minute fight or I royally screw up. I'm also not going to kill anyone since every class seems to have some form of health regen now. As for the hybrid aspect, my other spec is elemental. And while I can throw out good heals, my mana regen lasts all of about 5 or 6 "big" heals and then I'm oom. As opposed to resto where I only have mana concerns (not even problems) with prolonged fights.

As to the comment about getting blown up, if you have 3, 4, 5, or whatever dps beating on you without help you should get blown up. Having played a resto druid in Wotlk it was ridiculous how many people I could let beat on me without any worry of dying. And my general rule of thumb, generally when someone gets blown up by one toon, it's because that toon was wearing full vicious gladiator gear/equivalent pve gear while the other was wearing the blue gear at best.

Yeah this is not my experience on a holy priest. DK or War = dead for me no escape no chance. OOM is a reality always and soon. That's the problem.
