If you have difficulties with the add kiting, use a frost DPS DK with "Chilblains 2/2" talent, but make him play in blood presence for increased threat generation. We did the encounter several times without it, but it makes it way easier, since the kiter both agros all the adds with Howling Blast+Blood Presence, and slows them down thanks to that talent.

Make all melees make one group near the worm to DPS him, and all ranged stand approx. in the middle of the room, also grouped. The kiter DK will stand with the melee near the worm. When the Pillar of Flames (add spawn) comes, the ranged have to hurry away from the spawn spot (it will always spawn on the ranged group), and the kiting DK has to drop Death and Decays on the spawn spot (the "lava geyser", and then just spam howling blast to keep agro while the ranged AOE them down. Ranged must then regroup in a hurry before the next Pillar of Flames comes.

0/12 and we have just started our wipe nights

3 nights on Magmaw could not even get him chained down properly and our kiter needs lessons in moving.

So all we need is 3 people who can do these key jobs and we have cracked it.

Lets hope with better gear we will be able to do it before the next tier comes out.

Better gear isn't going to help people kite better or attach the chain any faster.

Aye, Quazi is right. Gear may help DPS the adds down faster, but nothing more.
Do what I said above, and you may even end killing him and get [Parasite Evening] !

EDIT: There's a guy in the comments of the achievement on WoWhead who describes exactly the same tactic than ours

Oh we tried a frost DK too he was crap also, though unfortunately we had to keep the hunter at ranged as well and the maggots ate him .

Like I said in my original post we need 3 people who don’t have fluff for brains to do these key jobs.

Progession sucks. We haven't downed more than two bosses in any raid. Can't get a solid 10 man together for more then one week.

Well it is sort of comforting to know it is not just my guild, as well as myself that seems to suck with Magmaw and the other current raid content. I will pass on the strategies noted above to the guild. We do have a competent DK so maybe it will work.

I think there's one exception to this. We found the Council to be significantly more difficult than Cho'Gall. We do them in 25 man mode though.

Fair enough, we were doing 10-man, and while the Council were certainly significantly harder than anything we did before them, I think Cho'gall was harder still in 10's.

But I guess it's always the "spread out, group up, spread out" fights that work out harder in 25's, and the Council has that in spades!! Also precise balancing of dps between two targets is, I'm sure, a lot harder with 16 or so dps than 5.

We do 25's also, and I would agree that council seemed more difficult than Cho'gall

9/12 w/ one 10man, 8/12 w/ another 10man group. The content is a bit more challenging this time around possibly but also I am not playing WoW as much as I used to. Not to show my ego too much but when I tank or DPS, raid groups win.

Up to 11/12 as a 25man and we have 2 10s doing 11/12. I am back to playing a bit more and the 25s are back on. Pew pew!
