I usually go to the AH or craft... I wish you could do battlegrounds, since wait times can be pretty long and I get restless.
I hate it when I go afk while waiting, only to come back and find that I've *just* missed the invite and have been removed from the queue. I've even missed it while sitting here watching TV.

since it takes upwards of 45 minutes, to get in .... I usually stock up on flowers and fish

I switch to another of the 4 characters I primarily play with tank and/or healer dual spec roles and gear and get them their daily valor tokens while the deserter debuff wears off on the last one that instant queued in and quit out after real life needed attention or maybe losing patience with random extreme badness.
Yeah, I agree with the above, if you only play DPS characters and the only reason you are paying to play WoW is to queue for BG or Random dungeons.... it's time to move on. Your free time should be fun time not sit and wait time.
