why would using terrain, whether it's pillars or hills or whatever, be "uncool" in a RPG? is the stats of your character really all people want to matter? movement, and using terrain, and other "active" strategies aren't the "cool" way to play?
So dragging out a match for 20 minutes because some pillar humping resto druid just doesn't want to admit that the last guy on the other team is going to kill him as soon as he catches up with him is "cool?" Finding a glitch in the corner of a box where you can heal your team while the other guys have to position themselves in exactly the right spot to hit you is "cool?" Standing behind a little weed that's bugged because you can shoot out while others can't shoot back is "cool?"
Or am I misunderstanding your point?
