Quest helper is on by default. Once turned off, it isn't automatically enabled when you get another quest.
Also worth noting that the L and M hot keys are also defaults, again if those get changed, this no longer works.
A good tip would tell me how to restore the above options, because settings can and do get mixed up and messed up.
Some tips for the tipster there.
