"There are a couple important things your guild website should have in order to get your members interested in going there.

Have a professional, appropriate design that is easy to navigate.

Have interesting and unique content to keep members interested in returning and particpating.

Have exclusive content on the website like guild information and/or contests for in game items or gold.

Put your guild application on your website.

Be active on the website yourself.
Good Luck!"

My guild has almost none of those and every member participates. Stupid tip is stupid.

Just because it's not needed for YOUR guild doesn't mean it's not needed and/or helpful for other guilds.

People do this?

Guild applications? ROFL at that one.

What a turn off.

Yea I have always stayed far away from those guilds. There's just too much wrong with people like that.

Unless you're in a high progression raiding guild. Then applications are par for the course.

Our guild has gone thru 2 websites and nobody ever uses them no matter what. One of our guildies offered to post pics of her boobs if everybody at least signed up for the last one, and she's hot and stacked, and we still only had about 15 people register.

I see the value in a guild website, and our last one was very well setup, but outside of forcing people, they'd never use it.

Yeah, it's better to spam trade and accept anything that breathes into your guild - that's how you build for quality and longevity.

El Oh El.

One thing that differentiates man from other animals is the use of tools.

Guild apps are just another tool used by some guilds that are more focused and selective about who joins. I'm not sure why this is amusing.

Our guild doesn't use online apps, but we do interviews of sorts when recruiting, to ensure personality and game style matches to fit our long running, successful, and drama free semi-casual raiding guild.

Seems to me if you want quality and longevity, you would play with people, hang out with them, get to know them and their play-style, you know, like friends in real life?

Anyone who does interviews or guild apps doesn't care about anything except "how many purples can this person help me get".

Quality and longevity, indeed.

I've gotta agree with Gutter on this point. The 'raiding guild' I was in that required not only an application on their website but an interview process as well just to get invited was just a bunch of people pretending to be friends while using each other to try and get upgrades for their gear. It was very fake and tiring and the amount of corruption in the leadership was mind boggling.

The guild I'm in now is the group of friends I made in that guild after we got tired of the bullshit and the game is much more enjoyable in spite of the horrible state of Cataclysm.
