Great points, and definetly something to think about. Especially the point about Diablo III being designed for consoles and PC. I have "learned" to cringe and run when I see this. There have been way too many examples of "designing for the PC and consoles" that have gone bad. Point taken.....

Simpler controls does not indicate dumbed down, if anything WOW has too many abilities to have on your actions bar. Honestly, if I have to use more than one row to play an encounter there is something wrong with design.

This is one of the biggest things that made me say wtf when I resubbed recently.

I always enjoyed the aspect of Guild Wars where you had to limit yourself to a small set of skills whenever you went out to adventure.

So true. Playing a Hunter sucked hardcore with Cata. Soooo many skills I needed to use just for viability sake, especially in PvP. (Mostly due to their stupid implementation of Trap Launcher)

I hate trap launcher Just let me drop the damn trap already. 2 keypresses just to freeze someone in an iceblock is dumb.

Diablo I was a blast and to appreciate it you really did have to play it when it came out. Or really be into retro games.

Diablo II wasn't much different, other then it was just so boring.....I could never finish it.

I will also buy D3 the moment it comes out, but I am skeptical, but Blizzard gets it right so I hope it is a ton of fun.

Interesting. I found Diablo 2 to be very fun and completed the game multiple times while I found Diablo to be quite boring.

I'm with Diskent on this one. Though I suspect my opinion might have been different had I started with D2.

Agreed Quazi. I started with Diablo 1 and it was awesome for the time. But it was just too slow. You moved at a slow walk everywhere. When D2 came out it was MUCH better mainly because you are far faster. Diablo 1s story was excellent but 2 was just as good in my opinion and the game was broken up in stages a bit better. That's my 2 cents.

"Diablo" and "story" do not belong in the same sentence.

Touche, it was almost 100% hack-n-slash. I agree. But it did have a story with a one-legged boy with a wooden peg....and the devil.
