Horizons used the "build it all" model and it sucked.
Ever spent 8 hours mining or cutting wood with 20 other people just to make a grain bin?
It isn't "fun" and people quickly say f*** it and move to another game.
Will be interesting to see though.

Here are the two things that absolutely killed all interest in Rift (for me):
How many character slots are there per server?
(10 in WoW, 6 in Rift)
Can I eventually get a flying mount?
(WoW = yes, Rift = no)
Unless I see two things BETTER than WoW you can just keep this game under wraps forever.

In Rift, I think there are just 4 primary classes and 6 slots giving you 1.5 slots per class
As far as the flying mounts thing goes you may just be SOL for ever playing another MMO if that's a deal breaker.

Honestly .. Ive never been one that cries for class balance.. as long as each class is viable... the 5 and 10%ers can go suck an egg.. they are the people that are making the rest of us suffer....  Balance is never going to truly happen. But proclaiming that a company isnt going to try and achieve it is just a flat out lie to potential customers.

EQ2, Vanguard, Aion, and a few other less-known games have flying mounts.

So - just figure out the top few templates and we'll effectively have justa couple of classes. If you decide to play something else, screw you, you're a gimp, we're not trying to balance anything.
Is this FFA pvp? Mounts getting one shot and running back to the stable sounds like...fun?

I read the wiki about it and it says exactly what I pictured this game as.

The developers promise a community like that of Ultima Online, PvE comparable to World of Warcraft and PvP taken from Lineage 2. The game itself is developed as a “sandbox†– where the player is completely free to chose what to do and how to live. Expanding on this, characters won't be subject to strict limitations on growth, such as is the case in other MMOs.
