Anyone get one of these emails yet? As a thank for being a veteran players...blah blah blah...we're giving you a "free" account for a friend. Basically it's 30 days game play that's free. Full WoW account, no trial restrictions. So where's the catch? After 30 days do you simply start paying each month or will you need to buy xpacs etc? If this is a scam it's the best I've seen. You can simply go to battle.net directly and put in the key. I fail to see how that would give anyone any info unless battle.net has been seriously hacked in which case we're all screwed. Frankly I would say it's legitmate, it makes sense, they're trying to bail out thier sinking ship with hats. No, I haven't tried it out, don't have anyone I'd be interested in dragging into the game atm.


Anyone else get one of these?

Yeah, what I find amazing is they were slammed on the forums with people asking about these emails and it took them forever to respond.


Apparently it's the full client and you only need pay your subscription once the thirty days runs out.

Ok, so this is just a key for VANILLA wow? If you play past the 30 days you have to buy the expansions?

I don't get it. This is supposed to be an award to veteran players, and obviously to boost subscribers, yet the vanilla game you can pick up in bargain bin for 5 bucks, or less?

I hate to be a doombringer, but SWG just announced its imminent death, coming this December. Now the 800 pound gorilla is begging for sales and subs.

Is this starting to show a problem with subscription based gaming, or just the RPG genre in general?

It's obvious Blizz thinks it's the later since their next "MMO" is going to be a FPS shooter. Tabula Rasa anyone?
