Yeah, its sorta neat actually. Short of a situation involving actually hacking something, there is very little recourse for someone who has been scammed. You can publicize it and trash the person's rep, but they've pretty much already gotten away with it. Now, you can hunt them down and fight them when you see them, but that isn't always viable. You could try to hire your own mercs to go after them, but again that isn't necessarily going to work out either, and still wont get you back the stuff you lost.
Now, a LOT of the scams you see regularly are just idiotic. They are out there in the hopes that some moron will be stupid enough to fall for it. Others are more sophisticated, and if you don't know what to look for you could easily be caught up in one.
