Going to mess around through Ssn10 with my cousins. Priest is going in fresh out of questing to 85, they're playing DK/Mage both geared in all Vicious.
Would I be better off starting as Disc or Shadow? Suggested talent specs would be cool, if you could give a small breakdown of how the spec works that would be better.
I have 2k Honor atm, is there anything Honor-wise I should be saving for or will Conquest be my main currency and I should just wait to buy Ssn10 stuff? Holy run on sentence!
Thanks in advance.
Speaking from season 9: My highest rank was only Rival though and that was on my Hpally. I played disc in some random comp with friends though. Disc / dk has great synergy for sure.
Anyway:
Disc. imo. I think the name of your comp is 'Libery Cleave'. As shadow you will be focused 100% of the time and end up healing anyway. As disc you will only end up being focused 50% of the time.
Even without gear your bubble (power word shield) is amazing. You will have to keep your bubble up 100% of the time on whoever is being focused of course saving pain suppression for as long as you can. Many teams blow everything at the beginning though, so you might have to use it earlier than you had hoped. Make sure and glyph into it. (Glyph of desperation)
In a perfect world your job is to mana burn the healer. But without gear you will see your own mana drop rapidly as well. Always carry like 50+ highland spring water and you will be spam drinking every second you can.(Actually since you have a mage you will use the mage food) Use your fiend or Hymn of Hope at 50% mana. Don't wait until you are lower than that because the other team will then focus you. If you are going to Hymn of hope you need a teammate to cc the enemy so you can get the full duration of it and chances are the mage will want to be in range as well to benefit from it.
You have to heal the dk's pet too (if he is unholy) so make sure you have a frame for it. If you cannot heal the pet make sure and tell the dk to heal it with deathcoil, and that he is glyphed into it)
(Your DK should be using Dark Simulacrum on the healer and using that to heal himself. Of course it depends on what else is going on)
Mana burn is also a good cc because most healers have an add-on that tells them when they are being mana burned. So as your team is setting up a kill throw a mana burn on their healer and watch them run behind a pillar hopefully LOS'ing who your team is targeting.
Make sure you use spell alerter
http://wow.curse.com/downloads/wow-addons/details/spell-alerter.aspx and set up important warnings. For mana burn I have it say, "

ou will Die" so I know when the enemy is mana burning. Also Polymorph. If you see an incoming Polymorph to you (also set up in spell alerter) Shadow word death it. (If the target is not killed by Shadow Word: Death, the caster takes damage equal to the damage inflicted upon the target thus breaking your sheep because of damage)
Against Pallies and mages you need to be fast on mass dispelling their bubbles and ice blocks.
... more later
edit: As far as gearing you will want to go for the 4 set piece bonus first.
As far as spec'ing you should check out the high rated priests specs and decide which looks best for you.

That one seems popular.

I, on the other hand, prefer a command-line system 'cause i'm so hardcore
