There is a gay joke here, I'm just too tired to make it.

Its not gay if you do it prison style.

Are they trying to turn WoW into a paid social network?

That's what it is. Well, that is what Battle.Net will continue to evolve into.

Pretty much. I'm expecting a slew of premium service type stuff to get implemented, as soon as they released D3. There is no way they will be satisfied having SC2 and D3 not having some sort of pay-for features forever. (aside from the arsehole money grab that is SC2x3)

Maybe Blizzard and Facebook should merge. Then instead of playing Farm Town on Facebook, you could play WoW.

I wouldn't be surprise if they charge for this. They know people who play wow will pay for stupid crap like mounts & pets so why not try this even if its just for a trial basis. Most wow players are suckers who pay real money for gold, etc so why stop now!

i don't get it.. they announced it and said it would cost money, and now they're saying they'll let us know if it will cost money later?

does this mean people bitched enough about it costing money they might do the right thing and let us all have it for free?

Meh...probably just shoddy PR. It's been a while since they have had their act together when dealing with the public. My money would be on they know it will cost money, but the last person to speak didn't realize it was already public knowledge (or forgot).

What will be interesting is to see if this ends up being implemented on all future Blizzard products. Ya know, sooner or later and assuming it gets more than a few million people participating, RealID will suffer the same hacks as other "social networks." Should be interesting to see how that turns out.
