And since we're discussing OT classes from other games the DAoC Friar is the greatest class of all time tyvm. Give me a freaking monk in WoW please. Heck, you can find them in SM for Pete's sake.

Agree fully. I loved my friar. Pretending I was a caster only to beat a shadowblade into pulp was great fun.

Since when was beating a shadowblade an accomplishment, like, ever?

We talking before or after the left-axe nerf?

If you were a scout...

Fav. WoW class = Hunter of course.

Second fav. Warrior.

After the left axe nerf, of course, but then again, that happened very early in the game.

My scout ate shadowblades alive.

Shields in melee were OP, especially for a ranged toon that took a ton of your health at a distance before you ever even get there.

You had to pop a SB from range if you wanted to stand a chance, and if you did so, you weren't in a 1 on 1 unless you caught a ST00PID SB walking around unstealthed lol. Dual wielding ate up shield defenses pretty hard. If you got lucky and landed a slam with their purge down, you could double crit shot 'em. But if they opened up on you in melee as a scout, you were fubar.

Maybe they made shields useful in melee later in the history of the game but up until WoW came out, if you were going up against a dual wielder with a shield, your shield was half as effective, as was your evade... kinda sh*tty tbh, and one of the reasons why I thought DAOC mechanics were a failure.

Admittedly with FZ pre-nerf - yeah, you could nail them if they popped you from stealth, but that was also late in the time period I am speaking about and was quickly nerfed if I recall.

I played an archer up until the archer nerf, which was very early on. I switched to berzerker after that. Then the left axe nerf came and I rolled a cleric.

Also it was nigh impossible for scouts to find leveling groups if they weren't shield specced.

I sold a zerk/shadowblade account for $700 (USD)... yes people paid amounts like that for accounts back in the day /shrug. 3 weeks later there was a left-axe nerf. Neither of us knew that was going to happen when he bought the account. Oh well his problem not mine.

After that shadowblades were pretty much only Thidranki heroes sitting on their bridges with their 2Hs

Even though I have, at various times when I still played WoW, preferred disc priest, mm hunter, and arms/fury warrior, and maybe resto druid or even dk, I have to say elemental shaman was the one that lasted the longest as favorite.
