Another fine example that people are little better than sheep. Not spooky ones either.

Anyway, what a terrible terrible precedent to set. If you are popular you are above the rules.

This shouldn't surprise ANYBODY.

From what I gathered, he wasn't trying to crash the servers. He advertised some game thing on the server, and being some kind of wow pseudo-celeb he had a very large gathering of fans. When lag started becoming an issue, people started getting concerned they would crash the server, and other people who were there started calling in friends to try and do just that. It worked.

We all know if he really meant to get on there just to crash the server and there was sufficient evidence, he would still be banned.

A permanent ban may have been excessive. But as my brothers across the pond would say (I've also been watching Misfits and Peep Show) it sounds like he was being a right twat and needed some form of punishment.

I agree with Dums...this is all about intent, and the fact that there wasn't any.

Blizzard must be really desperate for subscribers that they would unban this guy because this dude's fans whined like rats. Years ago this guy would have been banned for good without Blizzard batting an eyelash no matter the protest.

This.

When your game is losing hundreds of thousands of subscribers (all in one fiscal quarter even), then you cannot afford to ban people any longer.

I don't think blizzard ever actually banned people when they claimed to. They just lied about it and to this day have never proved these supposed "mass bans" they claimed.

The fact that he was enjoying his fanbois gathering and crashing the server made him deserve the ban. It was probably the best way to send a message to his fans that their actions can have an effect on their e-hero.

The price of being even a pixel celebrity is that you are going to be held to higher standards. Our real celebrity athletes don't seem to get this either.
