Rogue is pretty fun for a little while. Stops being OP in the late 60's IMO.
If you can learn to play a mage well then yes go for mage. Personally it's about as opposite of my playstyle as I can get so I don't care much for it. ~_^

race: troll (seriously), they get a free haste buff
spec frost and roll over every player in PVP as if they were level 1.
