Leading up to the release of Cataclysm Ghostcrawler spent a lot of time telling us about HIS vision, and how HE wanted to make some big changes, like changing healing. Now it seems like HIS vision has driven away about a million customers (approx. $180 million dollars in annual revenue) and put the franchise in a tenuous position as some big titles are about to release.
Now suddenly, features that Ghostcrawler said would NEVER be added to HIS game are being announced. He told us that we would never get the ability to change the appearance of our armor, he also said we'd never get a raid finder.
Is it possible that upper management is getting tired of Ghostcrawler's vision and he's being marginalized? How long do you think it'll be before he "moves on to another project" and WoW gets a new lead designer?

meh -- the game is fun and I'll play until it is not. I don't care who did it or why.

I suspect his position is secure. Plausible deniability, and all that.

I'd love to see a quote with GC claiming WoW was HIS game.
The fact we are getting features that were once not possible has nothing to do with (likely) GC (. Previously the money was (likely) not available in the budget to do so. So what if WoW makes a billion dollars an hour... it's meaningless when you have a player base content with what they have. A budget is a budget and if you cannot justify going outside of that budget, it is not happening. IE those features were not justified because they would not have pulled in additional subscriptions to pay for the cost.
Clearly these changes have been justified, now.

Nah WoW is a cash cow and big fat cash cow, I think is it more of GW not wanting things in that did not work with his social engineering ideas and vision, they start losing lots of subs the higher ups say to hell with what you want put them in.

"All death is certain" - The Hospitaler in Kingdom of Heaven (Ridley Scott).
Ghostcrawler did some very good things for WoW, and even the usual naysayers can't deny it since he was in charge during their favorite expansion WotLK.
What I don't forgive him is the dumbing down of the character development, being forced into a single overly simplified talent tree, totally changing the way several classes are played. That's my only grief against him, but it's a very bad one.
