My account got hacked once. Over 3k gold and all my items were stolen.
I contacted Blizzard and I got everything back with no poroblems.
It's not that hard. Just submit a ticket or call.

Same thing happened to me recently. Account was inactive for about 3 months. I do still play Starcraft 2, so I decided to remove my authenticator, as it is pretty tedious. Not even 24 hours later I get an email saying my password was changed and was accessed from China.
I never followed up with customer service as I do not plan on returning. I just though the timing was a little bit off. Sometimes I wonder about that conspiracy theory.
(And yeah I can almost guarantee that my all of my machines are virus/maleware free)

No, that was someone else. I posted about it though 
Anyway, all is better with 1 phone call and my mini tyrael hilt is still with me. yay!
I did have to contact a gm though and have him remove the 80 true gold that they had 'returned' to us. We are a poor guild and 80 true gold was just something we didn't have.

You pretty much did everything you could to allow yourself to be hacked, aside from personally giving someone in china your PW and account name.
