I have found the expansion Cataclysm to be well designed for the handicapped with problems with fingers, hands and wrist. The idea of having Druids of the talon to pick up players whom couldn't master the stepping stones is a good example. As a senior 67 years young with rheumatoid arthritis, I was able to experience all the quest, including egg wave which was the most difficult to master.
The expansion Wrath of the Lich King, with jousting in the Argent Tournament is a different story. For anyone with difficulty with their hands, it is near impossible to keep up with the champions. I have tried to master by practice and macro making to no avail. My grand-daughter, a young teenager had some difficulty in doing the valiant's joust and champion joust opening up the daily quest that I can do without the jousting.
Thus the games developers should keep that in mind. A system of variable difficulty like the stepping stones for those who want the challenge and the druids of the talon pick up for those that couldn't master it, was well done.
Seniors and handicapped people whom discover the WOW experience can certainly help to add to the player base.

There are plenty of things to do in WoW that don't require hand-eye coordination. I for one do not wish to see the game dumb down even more in the name of accessibility.

I have to agree. While I sympathize, the nature of the medium requires some coordination.

No. Playing video games is by it's very nature a skill that requires fine motor control and manual dexterity. If you can't preform fine motor control and manual dexterity to a reasonable degree I would suggest, perhaps, that playing video games might not be for you.
Further, as mentioned, the market for seniors and video games is decidedly small. Easily the smallest age group they could market to; why cater content to this, the smallest of all possible demographics?

I suppose mouse-turning is out of the question..?
You could always just hotwire a Wii controller, and tape it to a desktop oscillating fan....
(I achieved a 2600 rating using this method)
