Just another egomainiac at Blizzard. Blizzard is all about ego now, not about making good games.

Sir, I take strong exception to the use of the qualifier "now" in your post in regards to egos at Blizzard. "Ego" has been fully present and functional in amazingly transparent ways since release.

I believe the qualifier needs to be adjusted to the quality of the game portion of statement, thus reading:

Blizzard is all about ego, (and is) not now about making good games.

I tricked someone into getting me lunch. Most of the team rarely eats lunch away from their desks. I feel like it's an awful habit and one I should try to break from more often, but there's a lot to get done. I'm sure there's some study I can reference about how spending a lunch break away from work increases productivity when you return, but nevertheless there I sit, working while I eat. It also offers me some privacy as I'm convinced I constantly have food smeared throughout my beard.

Now, reading the combo of those, my husband pondered, it would be interesting to do a study to see which segment of their player base that would be grossly offensive to, mildly offensive to, not affected by, mildly interested in and very interested in.... and then compare that to their age demographics and determine, in the end, who exactly comprises Blizzard's target market (e.g. "Look, at Blizzard, we are gamers! Just like YOU!).

I think:

Maybe Bashiok's mom does not have a shower in her basement.

Give the guy a break. He did not have to write this. I got a bit of insight into the company. What is wrong with that? If this is the kind of replies he gets I don't think he will be doing anything like it again. I can see constructive criticism but this is just trolling.

Leave the trolling to the empty head kids on the Outpost.

I'm happy they have someone to watch player reaction. Far too often we see a developer vs. players attitude develop. That is generally when things go downhill for a game. Careful watch over players reactions so they can tinker to find the best balance is the way to go.

You will never find a balance between the power player and the player out for a bit of fun. Having someone like this will at least help identify and remove of the rough edges. I'm happy they have someone doing this job. He is our voice in the room.

My only fear is he will be the voice of the power players, who are far more likely to be posting on his web site than the average player who is just trying to have fun.

Stupid, ignorant or evil
The result is always evil but the intent is not always evil. Not that it makes much difference in the long run.
