Those are some might costly headsets. What is different about them as compared to cheaper headsets? I normally use $20-30 Logitech headsets. lol

I would take a look at the Corsair HS1A set. For the price it is outstanding, and the mic quality also is not bad. The only downside is they have pretty weak bass.

Here is the headset I use, been using one for several years now. It's not the best but for the price level I think it is one of the best. If you are only buying this for gaming purposes than anything more than a $100 set is overkill. It comes with an external device that improves all the sounds to Dolby 7.1 quality.

The sound quality and the mic quality are incredibly better compared to the clunky $20 sets.

Sound quality from the mic is better by a fair amount over my previous headset (a $50 headset at that). Its built very well, and after 1.5 years, it still looks almost new. It fits great, and is very comfortable. Before this headset I went through a variety of other headsets that just didnt work well / didnt fit well / didnt last.

Most headsets are way too bulky for me. If I don't need something over both ears, I'd rather just use an ear piece.
For years I've been using the Microsoft LifeChat ZX-6000 (link is to google shopping fyi for all the tinfoil hats around here that don't understand mouseover). I've never had any complaints, though admittedly lately the battery only lasts a couple of hours since it's probably a crappy little nicad battery.
I think the next thing I'll buy, since this one is on its last leg, will probably just be a bluetooth headset and bluetooth adapter.
[Edit] /facepalm
I just noticed PallyDog said not over the ear. So I guess this won't work for her.

Thanks for all the input guys. I bought one just to buy it and it didn't seem to fit too bad but my ears were killing me after 20 minutes. Seems lieka ll teh eltronics stores sold out most of their headsets over Christmas. I returned that one today and picked up a Logitech h800. A wee bit spendier then I planned but they let me try it on in the store before pruchasing and it fill beautifully and didn't weigh 15 lbs. And it's wireless which is nice! Had it on for hte last few hours, so far so good.

Sounds effects, music, ambient sounds, none of it works. I've checked the audio settings on the in game menu, everything is enable, my headset is the default sound device, and still nothing.
I hear the "k-thunk" noise when you first load WoW and that's it.
EDIT: Just fixed it, I set it to "default sound device" instead and that works....doesn't make sense imo, but oh well!
