I bring you something very different for this week. Topic of the Week would like to remind you all how important in game friendships can be. We all form them...in-game friendships and bonds. Day after day, we see the same names, develop a familiarity, likes and dislikes for each other. We help each other level, farm gear, and develop templates. We join guilds and alliances. We have our cliques and set groups we run with. We get to know each others likes and dislikes. We get a feel for each others play style. We compliment one and other. We share personal details about our lives. We exchange emails, telephone numbers, text messages, and may even meet face to face. It may last a few weeks. It may last a few years. At any rate, it is a friendship of sorts.

Nearly three years ago, the Gaheris Server suffered a tragic loss when three people within the same alliance all passed away within weeks of each other. My friend Tim was one of those three. I first met him on Lancelot when he joined a guild I was in. He was just an awesome guy, easy to talk to, very helpful, and fun to be around. We often grouped with a few other friends for nightly RVR. We all helped each other develop templates, farm needed gear, get Master Levels and artifacts. We just had fun together. We moved over to Morgan La Fey for a bit and then went to Gaheris when we needed a break from the PVP. His passing was very sudden, and very unexpected, as were his comrades. Three years ago, the Gaheris community came together to pay tribute to their fallen game mates. Today, Topic of the Week is sharing that tribute and would like to hear about the DAOC friends you've made that you want to remember.

Rest in Peace Timmy, Robin, and Jason. It was fun knowing you!

ok what does this have to do with mordred other than the use of pvp and friends? when actually you were on rvr... Do something about mordred not just ignore it and post about a blue server.

People on mordred can or do make friends. I understand its about your friends that you played with on a blue server, so why not just post it there and not here? There needs to be a population on mordred for friends to be made, which obviously daoc aint doing anything about that.

I miss my guildmates and talking in Ventrilo and Teamspeak for hours, even when not playing. Of course I am nostalgic for those times, but I have to cherish those memories rather than seek to replicate them. Change is hard, but so is lack of change. Mordred unfortunately suffered from the later with Mythic's neglect of addressing the ruleset's well documented issues.

I've met real friends that I have even traveled the world with through playing on Mordred. It's easy to critique, but it should be noted that I am thankful Mythic for producing a great game that fostered a great community.

Don't mind the negativity. People are passionate and that is reflective of how much they care for this game and server.

Topic of the week wants to know why the hell we keep putting a stick up mordred players asses by not letting them transfer off or have any intention of ever doing so.

Because DAOC didn't do anything for mordred? I think the last thing they did was make it so one guild couldn't have all 6 relics? That was like 3 years ago?

Just to make sure everyones clear...and Damaja since you were vault staff at one time, you should know this: Camelot Vault is not a part of EA/Mythic. We are part of the IGN network and we are gamers just like everyone here. No reason to go on the attack. If you don't like the articles, or posts don't read them.

I truly understand there are problems in the game especially for the non Ywain servers, and it's frustrating because you feel like the devs don't hear ya. Laugh as you might, the same thing is happening on Gaheris and it's not fair to those players either. As much as you enjoy your PVP, they enjoy their straight PVE without the worry of getting zerged down everytime they venture into the lab, nf, df, ml10 and other zones.

TOTW is a weekly article and I try to make it applicable to all the servers. Not always easy to do. I notice that none of the other articles from the vault get posted to these boards, and I can easily stop posting to this one, less work for me...but I try to be inclusive to all the servers.

However, thanks for the suggestions for upcoming topics. I'll find a way to use them I'm sure.
