Yes....you will ding 50 a fair length of time before getting enough scales to deck out your crew however(unless the scale item costs are lower than they are on ywain)

I've been pveing in the dragon zone for a few hours each day (until i get bored of looking at the same stuff ) and ive managed to make 500 scales so far. It's really not bad at all.
