Is Turbine talking about upgrading the graphics engine or is it going to remain the same ?

I have heard a few rumors but nothing for sure. I know of several people who feel the same way as I do and would love to come back but just cant stand the thought of Turbines lack of graphics to put it nicely.

they recently update the ground graphics... grass/ice/snow/water/sand/roads/etc

They did the landscape graphics and they are a big improvement.


They have done a few other random texture/model updates such as the aluvian doors, the pine/palm tree bark.


They've added gearknights/gurogs and now snow tuskers which are all new art creatures that look better then the existing.


So basically they're improving the art over time, but no there hasn't been any talk of them taking a few months to overhaul the new game (just recoding the graphcis engine wouldn't do it, they would still have to redo all of the art and textures to see most of the improvement a new engine would offer).


Also, if you play for eye candy there are plenty of terrible MMOs out there to be played that look pretty.

What I've understood from turbine in earlier posts are that the logic in AC is so nestled in with the graphics. So its pretty much impossible to do major changes to the graphical part w/o messing with the logical part. I rather see AC keep outdated old graphics (which imo still look better than many of the newer games) than them messing up the game logic.

Let's not forget ac2 and how long that lasted....

There was an AC2? Wow! Gone in a blink of an eye and no one missed it!


Wasnt that great any how, AC is still be here when they try for AC3 (End Game as we know it)

AC will be here long as people continue to pay for crappy updates

I think one of AC's Biggest strong points is the wide diversity of the items, equip ETC that it has to offer.. as opposed to most other MMOS other games you're stuck with the same set armor as every one else.
But in the same it's also what makes it nearly impossible or An insane feat to re do the graphics for all of the existing stuff for a new game engine.. It would take an immense amount of Resources , time and development funds to Do so however It wouldn't probably be worthwhile as It would be Very hard to pull new players to the game.

Be grateful that they updated the graphics so that the characters now have THUMBS!
