Hi Guys,


I'd pretend like I'm coming back and I'd expect people to remember me, but last time I came back in 2008, nobody was around from my time before. But I did make some good friends in The Jaded Ones. I remember a good guild leader, and a married couple that played all the time. Any Jaded that see this, probably know who I'm referring too. There was several others, but I dont really remember. I only played for a few months in 2008.


Anyway, who I am:

I am mostly some form of Dook. Dook/Dookx/Dookpbt/Dookbuffs/Dookheal, etc etc etc. Last I checked I had:

50 Friar
50 Cleric
50 Bard
50 Theurg

And maybe something else? I dont remember. I remember at the time that I made the friar in 2008 because they were EXTREMELY overpowered with their new'ish proc-heal....I could solo everything "proc proc proc, heal heal heal".

I'm sure whatever I had for a house is long long gone.


The Jaded Ones stuff is from 2008 era. Before that I played many months with the top Gaheris guild way back when. I forget the name, very elitist guild, although friendly, man, wish I could remember their name. I joined Xeen/Xeene in that guild since I knew him from the Kay server. They all moved on though long ago.


Before coming to Gaheris in 2002/2003 whenever it was. I played for a couple years on Kay server, where I had 50 Cleric, then 50 Healer, then back to Albion for 2 50 Clerics, 50 Necro, and 50 Minstrel.


So anyway, there's my blog of a life story. My first account was created Oct 18th, 2001, the opening day of Kay server which was I think 3-5 days after opening day of DAoC. Thanks for my account for telling me my creation date.


Next part of this guided tour...

The accounts process is pure hell at this point. Jesus, what gives? There is game accounts, Mythic Master Account, EA Game/Master Accounts, and then something now called Nucleus account? Wow.

I logged in via my email, and I was able to "link" 4 of my 5 accounts to that email. I think I got all my main characters... but I cant for the life of me remember the password for one of them. Customer Service via mail and phone has been zero help. The one dude even kept telling me "your account doesnt exist".. and I go on about how i'm at accounts.eamtyhic.com etc, and I'm logged in right now... and he's like "uh, lemme check some other place" and come back again and said my account didnt exist.


Either way.. I went ahead and paid, and now I'm downloading the game. Unfortunately, I'm currently deployed to Afghanistan, and it's going to take like a week to download. I think I'm at 15 megs of 3.7gigs.


In the meantime, one thing about DAoC, is that it has to be the least-changing game in all of the MMOs I've played. However, does appear to be some new/different stuff going on?

Once I finally get online, I'll be sure to look up Ella and the Jaded Ones.. they were such a good guild last time I was around. I hope someone there (hopefully Ella) remembers the name of Dook. But then again, I wasnt around for longer than 2-3 months in 2008.


Thanks to anybody who takes the time to read and reply. I dont mind being so informative and sharing so much as the Gaheris community has always been different than the community on any other server, and just about any other MMO game there is. I'd like to think it's mostly older folks playing, as I'm 32 with a wife/kid. Wow. It's hard to think when I started playing this, I was 22.


I wish I could get this game downloaded faster, but I'm at the mercy of 17k/sec download of Afghanistan. Once I get in though, the connection is smooth and static. (I have already played Everquest on this connection for 4 months).

I don't know you, but welcome back. Jaded Ones is still going strong and the alliance is very helpful and active. Ella and her husband still plays if you were worried about that.

As far as your first guild, that would've been Legion.

Not much at all has changed since 2008, except maybe a lot of things are purchasable with bounty points (ml's and artifacts, equipment, clxp, mlxp and such) and there are currencies now for both the dragon loots and the epic dungeon loots. Thats about all of the game-wide changes though.

I was happy when I saw your name earlier, it's the only name besides Ella that I recognized off of Page 1. I didnt dig very deep. No idea who geckobanzai or saxona are.

Yah, I realized it was Legion once I noticed my signature still attached to this account. I only ever used VN Boards for DAoC.

I dont know about going from a Top guild to a bottom-barrel guild. What I do know, is that back in my Kay and early Gaheris days, I was a 6-10 hours a day guy. All I cared about was making some kind of progress for my character and my guild. For Kay server of course, it was all about defending them realm and relics, etc.

Now, being married, and in the military, I can only play casually. Jaded Ones was very efficient. It had knowledgable people, yet was causal/friendly, yet was organized.

What guild are you in man?

I remember when I returned in 2008 and found out Legion was all gone, I wondered who replaced them as the ones who "get it done". And this was my first return since DAoC -really- started dying.

Anyway, I remember there was a few huge guilds like TJO and BHP...and like 2 others...but no Low-amount-of-hardcore-players-who-kill-everything-with-bare-minimum-of-people type guilds anymore.

that isn't really around much anymore since the usual hkn'rs aren't around as much. saxona from Grace would be able to answer that question better for you. i haven't been on gaheris for a month or two and i'll always be primarily in Ar Fein

Most guilds are like this now, simply out of necessity. Grace has reduced all NF encounters to 1 or 2 live players, though not many of our members have really tried to small-man the big 3 or Draco, so those are still left to larger raids (2fg+)

Dook ! of course I remember you, and we would be more than happy to have you back ! Even if you choose another guild don't hesitate to contact us. We are still an active guild in an active /as with regular raids. gad hasn't been playing but Jas and Super are still playing and co-gm's now. Hope to see you in game soon !

Heya Dook =) Not sure if you remember me but it took a moment for this old man's memory to jog hehe =) How ya been ? ...and as for PW never seeing a TJO in a decent template...as a templater myself I believe you never will because its not one you personally made...and how do you know if you dont play gaheris but for 30 minutes every 3 months ? =)
