My vote is for Las Vegas. What a clusterpuck. I think it was designed by a Pollock!

Haven't been to the Vegas one in years.

Most depressing airport is the one in Frankfurt Germany. Everything is the color grey. The have grey flooring.. the ceiling and walls are painted to match the floor. The light fixtures.. grey. The window trims.. grey.. the curtains/blinds..grey. The hardware on the doors baked on grey enamel. Everything , even the uniforms people wear, the furniture and the mica on the counters... everything is ONE color.

My first impression was an almost sublime moment as I searched the the whole place with my eyes looking for something that wasnt grey. It dawned on me that this is what they mean when they say everything is good in measure.. even being practical.

QFT.

Frankfurt is also the worst designed airport I've ever had the misfortune to have a layover in.

It's constantly under construction, the gates move to half floors (not kidding - we went down 2 flights on an escalator to go back up 1 flight and then over a half flight again - WTF??!?!?)

It sucks worse when your plane can't even come to the gate, you have to go down to the tarmac and then get on a bus to go out to a parking lot for the planes somewhere out in eastern germany.

I think my vote still goes to Chicago-O'Hare (ORD). I hated making connections through that place because the architect somehow tapped into Escherian (or perhaps Lovecraftian) geometry and every gate is precisely 26 miles 385 yards from every other gate. That, with the guarantee that your arriving flight is going to be late (state law I think), made for many cases of running to a gate only to see the tail of my connecting airplane as it pulled away from the loading ramp.

The top three in my books -

O'Hare - just a PITA

Close second - Newark - the on time rate is really low

Not in love with Kennedy only because it is on Long Island and a pain to drive to I believe it's on time record sucks too

My vote is for the Detroit Metro.

Edit: 2nd Runner up would be Midway.

Detroit Metro gets a close vote, however, Atlanta is one of the worst due to them cancelling flights on a whim for every little thing. I think that 2 out of 10 of my flights were successful and one of them was postponed for 3 days. I wasn’t happy. I try everything to get around Atlanta but most the flights that leave Daytona Beach or Orlando fly through the Atlanta Hub causing me to have low expectations on making an appointment on time. O’Hare is a mess as well. Beijing is hard, especially being an American. They screen you and really put you through hell and if you need a translator good luck. It’s hard to navigate around because the lay out there is all over and resembles a giant octopus or something with causeways that lead all over. Best airport imo… Orlando. I have never had a problem with it and everything is so close together it’s easy. Also Cincinatti Airport (which isn’t even in Cinci if I remember correctly) is a good one, and I love their restaurant area.

I think the Cinci airport is across the river in Kentucky.

Yeah, the Atlanta airport usually was a mess and another I remember trying to avoid was Dallas - Ft. Worth.

Atlanta never bothered me much. I like Milwaukee because it's so small.
