No, but it spurred a paralell universe.
As you can tell Desmond was on the plane.. which he wasn't..
The conversation between Jack and Rose was reversed..
Boon was on the plane with Shannon... this time he was alone..
and Hurley has nothing but 'good luck' .. whereas he is bad..
And Sawyer telling Hurley to watch out for con men... whereas he's one himself? ... so maybe not in this universe...
So I think things are switched up a bit here...
I also think the bad guy is Lucifer.. after the comment "I just wanna go home, unlike Locke whom just wanted to stay," kinda gave it a 'fallen angel' feeling.
What I think will happen is that those on the island will die off eventually and the world of the plane alternate will become the Prime....
that's my prediction.

Yeah I've thought all along that it was good vs evil (God vs Devil and the island being the Garden of Eden). I see Richard as one of the arch angels. We'll see how it pans out though...
Still has me wondering why they're in a parallel universe where everything is opposite?

Everything isn't opposite, everyones character archetype is still there. Kate is still a fugitive, Jack still wants to save everyone, Hurley still has piles of money, Sawyer still obviously has no respect for the law, etc etc. But there are different circumstances in all of their lives.
The producers have said, as they always do, "trust us". It's not a fake world, it's really there... but how does it tie into our LOST world? We'll find out eventually...
